Koh Samui is the second largest island in Thailand after Phuket. It is located in Surat Thani Province, on the east coast of the country. The island has developed into a major tourist destination.
Most visitors to Koh Samui stay at Chaweng Beach, on the east coast of the island. From there, you can visit all the sights around the island, among them the Big Buddha, the Grandfather-Grandmother Rock Formation, the Mummified Monk, and other sights.
Off the coast of Koh Samui are beautiful islands that have become popular destinations as well. Among them, Koh Phangan is famous for its Full Moon Party. Further away are the pristine Angthong National Marine Park, Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan.
