Halong Bay

HALONG BAY

Halong Bay is a beautiful scenic area in northern Vietnam. It is located about 2 hours by road from Hanoi. The bay is famous for its numerous limestone outcrops and karst islets. Due to its scenic beauty, Halong Bay was made a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Today it is a major tourist attraction for Vietnam. Many people come here for a day trip. You can explore the bay on motorised junks, where you can enjoy fresh seafood on board. Many people also choose to spend a night on board the junk. At night, the sky at Halong Bay is so clear that you can see the stars.

In the day time, you can watch the Vietnamese fishermen go about their daily life, just as they have been doing for generations. At Cat Ba National Park, you can go kayaking to explore the many limestone caves. There are certainly many beautiful caves at Halong Bay. Some of these have been cleared and tidied up to accept visitos, with lighting to enhance the beauty of the magnificent stalactites and stalagmites, while others are left in their natural state.
