There's a small island to the south of
Phuket that you should visit, if you ever go to Phuket for a vacation. This uninhabited island is called Coral Island. It has one of the best beaches in Phuket and also one of the few places where you can walk underwater to view the coral reefs.
We visited Coral Island when we were on our trip to Phuket with Beautiful Planet. We were all excited as we got ready for the pick up from our hotel. The coach took us to a beach, where we boarded a speedboat and headed south into the beautiful Andaman Sea. The seawater was a clear green, like jelly, broken only by the froth of the waves.
Within less than twenty minutes we have arrived in Coral Island. I can see beach huts along the shore. The island is uninhabited - I learn afterwards that there is a chalet where people can spend the night, but most visitors only come for a day. In the clearing are beach restaurants. I found out afterwards that we will be having our lunch there.
Deck chairs line the shore with colorful parasols shading them against the sun. Some of my friends go for the Underwater Sea Walker. This is an apparatus that looks like the helmet worn by the astronaut. It allows you to breath underwater, so you can admire the corals and fishes from the sea bed. There are many other sea activities that your guide will also show to you.
As I love exploring, I decided to check out the island a bit. Away from the sandy beach, I came across a stretch with rocks. It is very interesting, climbing through this rocky section, then onwards up to a grassy hill. From here, I get a scenic view of Coral Island. Time seems to fly by, and soon it's what for lunch.
What a nice spread. We had fresh seafood and it was really delicious. Rice was all you can eat, and I think I must have overeaten, because I feel to sleepy after lunch. It's good to have the deck chairs to our disposal, so we can lie down and relax, just enjoying the breeze and hearing the sound of the waves lapping the shore.
Pretty soon it was time for us to leave Coral Island. Although we were there for less than a day, it was a picnic excursion that I enjoyed very much. If you wish to visit Coral Island, please be sure to ask for it when you book your trip to
Phuket.
